Fact: The solar sunspot cycle peaks during the next 2-3 years. Fact: About once a century, we are subject to a super powerful sun storm that would destroy much of the electrical power grid. Most recent are the 1921 and 1859 solar storms. Both occurred before the integration of the power grid. Fact: Without electrical power, millions of people would die within a few months due to lack of water, food, medicine and/or exposure to extreme temperatures. Fact: Most nuclear power stations rely on the power grid for their operations. Without electrical power, there is the very real possibility of a core meltdown. Fact: Japan's leaders knew of the possibility of a triple-threat earthquake/tsunami/nuclear disaster. They chose to chalk it up to being a minor possibility, and did not prepare properly. Just like this now very real triple-disaster, it is not a matter of "IF", it is a matter of "WHEN" a super solar flare will happen. Fact: Y2K was a known and preventable problem, yet it cost billions of dollars and several years to make certain that the infrastructure would not collapse on January 1st 2000. Fact: If any country or part of the world experiences a large, sustained power outage, it will have huge repercussions for our already fragile world economy. Fact: This is all completely preventable at a one-time cost of $5 for each household or business. Fact: The 535 people that could prevent this seem to be oblivious and are just cluelessly wandering around in the United States House and Senate. S. Representatives and Senators should be doing nothing else with their time but passing: House Bill 2011 HR-668 (Secure High-voltage Infrastructure for Electricity from Lethal Damage Act) that was introduced in February. Do not let them have a day's peace until it is passed. Use every resource you have available to get these people to act NOW! You need to do this TODAY, and EVERYDAY until the power grid is secure from total breakdown.
